What does CBM mean?
CBM means cubic meter (m³). It describes the physical volume occupied by a carton, crate, pallet or shipment.
CBM formula when dimensions are in centimeters
CBM = length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) ÷ 1,000,000 × quantityExample: 60 × 40 × 35 cm = 0.084 CBM per carton. Twenty cartons = 1.68 CBM.
CBM formula when dimensions are in inches
CBM = length (in) × width (in) × height (in) × 0.000016387064 × quantityExample: 24 × 18 × 16 inches is about 0.1133 CBM per carton.
CBM formula when dimensions are in millimeters
CBM = length (mm) × width (mm) × height (mm) ÷ 1,000,000,000 × quantityExample: 1200 × 800 × 900 mm = 0.864 CBM.

Measure the finished carton, crate or package—not only the bare product. Packaging can materially change the total volume used for freight planning.
