CBM Calculator for Shipping

Calculate cubic meters and cubic feet for cartons, crates and packages. Enter the outside dimensions of one package and the quantity in the shipment.

Calculate shipment volume

Use the outside dimensions of the packaged carton or crate. Carriers and warehouses may apply their own measurement and rounding rules.
How CBM is calculated

Convert the package dimensions to meters, then multiply.

CBM means cubic meter. It is a common way to describe how much physical space a shipment occupies. For one package, the calculation is length × width × height after all three measurements have been converted to meters. Multiply that result by the number of identical packages to get the shipment total.

CBM = length (m) × width (m) × height (m) × quantity

For example, a carton measuring 60 × 40 × 35 cm occupies 0.084 m³. Ten identical cartons occupy 0.84 m³.

Useful with shipping paperwork

Volume often appears alongside package counts, dimensions and weights when preparing packing lists, air-shipment worksheets and freight instructions.
